TIL THE DAY THAT YOU DIE I heard what you said when the day came around But I could not forget the words you’d written down I hope you’ll forgive me I’m sorry to wait Pray the words that I say still aren’t too late But you just stood there with your hands to your eyes Talking in rhythms to the tune of demise With your heart in your hands and your fists to the sky -That’s just how you’ll be til the day that you die Well you knew for some time this would come to an end But if the boat’s going down you might as well swim With your past all behind you the West to your back It can’t hold a flame to the hope that you lack I told you the truth it was worse than a lie ‘Cause now your heart really knows what your face tries to hide With your heart in your hands and your fists to the sky- That’s just how you’ll be til’ the day that you die You’ve gotta make a living so the living is for good That’s just what they tell me it’s just what you should But it’s a hard time for living when your heart is on trial For the things that you’ve done you’ll be done in a while And who knows what mysteries your heart often hides ‘Cause mysteries aren’t secrets when the truth is a lie With your heart in your hands and your fists to the sky- That’s just how you’ll be til’ the day that you die I checked the time it was 2:55 I was pacing the floor where I live You made the drive said you could not survive this way feels like its come to an end And on her machine I voiced a plea to believe that we tried oh how we tried. You said you’d leave ‘Cause it’s easier to bleed when the deck has been stacked oh so high And maybe someday we’ll put an end to our pride Talking in rhythms to the tune of demise And then you will see why I call you a friend And you can wear it on your sleeve ‘till the bitter end. With your heart in your hands and your fists to the sky- That’s just how you’ll be til’ the day that you die

Summer Rain 03:58
Summer Rain Summer rain summer rain come and wash me away From the pain from the pain you make blue skies from gray And when we get to where we’re going we’ll let nobody take Summer rain summer rain that dance across our face Summer rain summer rain why you been gone so long ‘cause our spirits are dry; we’re barely hanging on but you bring the waters our hearts hold so dear summer rain summer rain come wash away our tears Daddy said daddy said we will fall on our knees At the mercy of the heavens and the next autumn breeze But until that summer rain comes walkin’ up our steps We will hold our heads up high and give thanks for what is left You know our hearts we cannot hide Wastin’ in the summer sky Hope is a dream when we’ve not seen you Whispering in the summer trees We are dancing in the rivers now the moon is high above And our hearts are overflowing by the way you’ve filled them up But the leaves will soon surrender, winter’s just around the bend Soon you will be teaching us to grieve again You know our hearts we cannot hide Wastin’ in the summer sky Hope is a dream when we’ve not seen you Whispering in the summer trees Here the spring has come we’ve just begun Soon you will be teaching us to breathe..

The Balance 05:11
The Balance When You called me from the darkness did you know that I would fall? And if the blood is on my hands does it really matter at all? And if the apple’s merely poison why’d you put it on my plate? If this story’s just a rumor does it carry the same weight? So I contemplate the weight of what it means to die And if I think therefore I am then who the hell am I To be cynical of questions whose answers we’ve not heard? And when did “I don’t know” become such a dirty word? These are the questions in between The balance between what we think we know and what we see So I carry on this burden our parents put on us It’s ashes to ashes our bodies back to dust Oh and I have heard it said “to doubt is to exist” But it feels like mine was placed here inside my father’s rib. These are the questions in between The balance between what we think we know and what we see I put my faith in ancient words I cannot read ‘Cause when I hold them up against my heart I don’t like what I see and that’s good enough for me When the sun sets on my anger- my suspicions long confirmed Will my ears inspire action; ring loud with what they’ve heard? The view from on this mountain is one I wish not to save ‘Cause if it has to be the gospel I’m afraid it has to start in the grave These are the messages we see In the balance between what we think we know and what we see

Baltimore 06:07
Baltimore I Thought this would be easy /I thought you were wrong I’d never say sorry/Easier said than done You had every reason/To just walk away But who would have thought that I’d be standing here Trying to find my way To the place where we could start again Without getting to the point Conversations doesn’t need to end I won’t miss your voice. I would be over you I’d have this thing won Maybe tomorrow clocks will all turn back I won’t wonder what I’ve done We could start over The pages could erase I can still see you standing in this light the moonlight hits your face I think I’m gone… Should have seen this one coming/Not like I didn’t have a clue I always knew that days wouldn’t be the same/Especially without you And I think that there’s no getting back to the way it used to be And I hope that you don’t shake this off Saying maybe it’s just me I would be over you I’d have this thing won Maybe tomorrow clocks will all turn back I won’t wonder what I’ve done We could start over The pages could erase I can still see you standing in this light the moonlight hits your face And I could kiss away your pain and you would not be so insane to think That I could one day feel the same we wouldn’t play the blaming game and wait For some hypnotic trance as this to wake us from the fleeting dance and pray That we’d get back to life some day we wouldn’t have to stay awake If I could I would. The days getting longer/the nights so unclear Things are not getting that much easer/without you here I think we’re gone.

Million to One Granddad was a war hero as far as I could see He never won no pins or stripes that don’t matter much to me Loved his wife till’ the day he died told my brother to do his best When that cancer took his bones then we laid his final rest One thing he told me when I was young. You can’t afford to be looking back I can’t explain why he left the way he done But a man like him is a million to one. That green-eyed girl got the best of me my heart she saw right through All around us the world was dyin’ our love would make it new I was scared I’d been there trembling on my knees So I asked her dad for her hand he taught me how to see. Said “son this train it goes all around. Over hills and through the storms” You punch your ticket and hold close the ones you love. ‘Cause a hand like hers is a million to one Sandra she’d seen everything the world could throw at her Two kids three jobs and a broken home drowning out her words They called all cars when it burned down it burned right to the ground You could hear the sirens blazin’ Sandra couldn’t hear a sound Newspapers asked her where she had been She worked a double until sun The kids weren’t home to feel the gas lines explode The chances were a million to one I remember when I fought my dad I was screaming on that day Said “you can stay or you can go it doesn’t matter anyway” I stood my ground and he backed down we didn’t see much eye to eye But when we told him of our plans it was the first I heard him cry Tears fell from my father’s eyes that day I think about what mother said There ain’t nothing to make our love come undone A son like you is a million to one I don’t know if the world was made in six days or ten more All I know is the love I’m shown we can’t ask for much more And if I’m standing on this earth I know each breath I take is blessed I hope each breath it brings me closer to the ones I love the best And if my granddad were alive today I’d like to hear him say well done The world brings troubles with each new morning sun but a life like yours is a million to one The answer is a million to one.

Violent Man 05:04
Violent Man Well I’ve know to be a rebel; of this I am not proud Many times I’ve crossed the lines just to speak against the crowd I admit I’ve never tried to use sticks and stones for fame But sometimes my words will cut like knives and they’ll hurt you just the same ‘Cause I am not good enough to help myself the blood on these hands is much to think to wash off now So brothers fall in line to the tune of this great pearl And know we’ve already failed in the eyes of this old world ‘Cause what good is resistance when my heart’s prepared to fight? I’m just a violent man with peaceful plans of trying to make things right. It’s hard to beat the system; to pave the way for change By using words like “left” and “right” to interpret what we say And I know that it’s not easy to preach against the choir It’s even harder when my words they come from both sides of my mouth ‘Cause I am not strong enough to walk alone the weight of our wrongs is much too much to call my own So brothers fall in line to the tune of this great pearl And know we’ve already failed in the eyes of this old world ‘Cause what good is resistance when my heart’s prepared to fight? I’m just a violent man with peaceful plans of trying to make things right. God knows I’m a violent man with peaceful plans just trying to make things right

Kansas (Let Me Be) This highway is a ghost of what has come to be and what was lost Sunflowers through my window are brighter than the memories I have tossed And now the sun beats down on a life we once knew I know the rest is lost ‘gainst the way I treated you I always knew I’d leave you when I could make something of myself But there’s something bout the bright lights haunts me like the wind moves through these fields And now I think about the way folks often talk Seems like the more we have the more we seem to fall Kansas you are leaving me I thought we agreed These names and faces have no meaning when you’re gone Oh Kansas- Oh Kansas please Oh Kansas let me be Knew a man who said this town was like a curse. It gripped him like a plague Now the only sickness he can’t be cured of is the one they call old age And now his girl’s grown up there’s a little one on the way We once said we’d skip this town; not a chance in hell we’d stay Kansas you are leaving me I thought we agreed These names and faces have no meaning when you’re gone Oh Kansas- Oh Kansas please Oh Kansas let me be When we were young we had the world held in our hands. We didn’t think it would end I would chase her down the river in my hands; she would slip and break again And if love could be the answer to our plans, then lust would be the damned And we’d ride. We’d ride all day just to give ourselves a chance In the end that summer wheat steals our eyes for one last glance Kansas you are leaving me I thought we agreed These names and faces have no meaning when you’re gone Oh Kansas- I’m on my knees Oh Kansas- Oh Kansas please Oh Kansas – Let me be.

Chosen Words 04:01
Chosen Words Covered by chosen words and wounded by time Loss of the innocent son; we stopped on a dime And my hands are tied from this Garment of love burned by a kiss You second the motion we’ve got to move We did this for love; we did this for you Your mouth is a graveyard where words go to die You question my balance; I’m questioning why It’s not like I tried for your pain But chosen words land wherever they may You take my choices I’ll take the blame You’re covered in love; it’s never the same Covered by chosen words Your voice is a mirror forget what you’ve heard Reflecting back what it owes What you mean to me know one can know.
