lyrics

Violent Man

Well I’ve know to be a rebel; of this I am not proud
Many times I’ve crossed the lines just to speak against the crowd
I admit I’ve never tried to use sticks and stones for fame
But sometimes my words will cut like knives and they’ll hurt you just the same

‘Cause I am not good enough to help myself
the blood on these hands is much to think to wash off now
So brothers fall in line to the tune of this great pearl
And know we’ve already failed in the eyes of this old world
‘Cause what good is resistance when my heart’s prepared to fight?

I’m just a violent man with peaceful plans of trying to make things right.

It’s hard to beat the system; to pave the way for change
By using words like “left” and “right” to interpret what we say
And I know that it’s not easy to preach against the choir
It’s even harder when my words they come from both sides of my mouth

‘Cause I am not strong enough to walk alone
the weight of our wrongs is much too much to call my own
So brothers fall in line to the tune of this great pearl
And know we’ve already failed in the eyes of this old world
‘Cause what good is resistance when my heart’s prepared to fight?

I’m just a violent man with peaceful plans of trying to make things right.

God knows I’m a violent man with peaceful plans just trying to make things right
